Why join CAA_
● We do what others can't. While other arts organizations are legally limited in the amount of advocacy they can provide, CAA's legal structure and charter allows unlimited lobbying.
● We fight for what matters to you. The California Arts Council (CAC) is legally prohibited from advocating for its own budget. It is illegal for the CAC to spend money directly for advocacy or to fund other groups or organizations to do so on its behalf. CAA does not accept any funding from the CAC and is thus able to advocate for the CAC's budget and work to preserve public funding for the arts.
● We speak for all of the arts. We provide the only full time lobbyist in Sacramento who represents all arts stakeholders, regardless of size, composition, location, finances or cultural background.
● We need you. CAA needs your voice and your support to shape public policy in California. Your membership dues enable CAA to protect and grow the arts.
